A Bachelor & Bachelorette Auction for the Heart & Stroke Foundation

This year for heart month we're bringing sexy back to The Heart & Stroke Foundation by auctioning off 20 of Toronto's hottest young professionals. On February 10th 2011, The Hideout Toronto will play host to the first Love a Heart event, a bachelor and bachelorette auction for The Heart & Stroke Foundation.
In the spirit of charity The Hideout Toronto will donate their services for the evening including the cost of the band and the venue space. The $5 door cost will go entirely to Heart & Stroke research as will the funds raised from the sale of the bachelors and bachelorettes. We haven't forgotten about the people bidding - Nella Bella will donate a duffle bag to the highest male bidder and a handbag to the highest female bidder from the audience who will also receive $100 each from Sleeman Brewery to spend at The Hideout Toronto.
The incredible support we've felt from our sponsors has been nothing short of incredible - those young professionals who are already tweeting and blogging about the event, the sponsors who have agreed to donate to the cause and The Hideout Toronto for giving us their space for the evening.
February has been commercialized through Valentine's Day for as long as we can remember but to see people opening up their hearts for a disease that is responsible for 30% of all deaths in Canada each year – is simply amazing.
Love a Heart began as a stream of tweets and Facebook comments between two friends and we're proud to be an official event of Social Media Week Toronto (SMWTO). Largely due to the incredible social media presence in Toronto, the event has already gained traction and we expect a great turn out from one of twitter's largest and most supportive communities.
The event begins at 8PM and the auction will be split into two parts with half of our eligible bachelors and bachelorettes going up on the chopping block at 9:30PM to be followed by a full set from our band for the evening, The Cover Boys. At 11PM the remaining bachelors and bachelorettes will go up for the final auction. Bidding for our beautiful volunteers will begin at $25 and is cash only. We encourage everyone to remain with us until the bidding is concluded so that we can award prizing to the highest bidders for the evening.
